The BHSU Men’s Basketball team went on a historic run just a season ago, making it to the final four of the NCAA Basketball Tournament. The team have continued that success starting the season 13-0, the best in program history and climbing the national polls going from #5 in the D2SIDA Media Poll to #3 in the rankings, even with multiple votes to be ranked #1.

The Men’s Basketball team started off the season with a difficult test in the East/West Challenge. The Yellow Jackets came up against #19 Minnesota State Moorhead and #18 Augustana University. The Yellow Jackets would defeat both teams, winning against MSUM by just one point 78-77, and against Augustana University 82-73.

The Yellow Jackets continued that success in front of their home fans, destroying Montana State University 97-38 and then going over to their rivals in Rapid City to defeat the Hardrockers 78-58. The Yellow Jackets would then come back to Spearfish and defeat Regis University 75-65 and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs 87-79.

The next test for the men in green and yellow would come against RMAC rival and historically great #8 Colorado School of Mines. BHSU would have to play this game away in Colorado and the game would ultimately come down to overtime with the Yellowjackets picking up an 85-77 win.

The test for this team continues, their next test is remaining undefeated for the season and winning the RMAC. After that, only the sky is the limit and the BHSU Men’s Basketball team can show to be as competitive as any other team at the NCAA Basketball tournament and will give Yellow Jacket fans a lot to be excited for.
