Singer Caroline Smith to perform in Spearfish
Caroline Smith will beperforming at 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Back Porch and B&B Bar. Jami Lynn and Dylan James will also be performing. Anyone planning to attend must be at least 21 years old.
Caroline Smith is a singer and songwriter that broke into the music industry with her unique style. Merging different styles like 90’s R&B, indie rock and neo-soul, Smith is taking her music to another level with her new album titled “Half About Being a Woman”.
Smith believes the music of this album is special because she sees it as going back to her roots. From there, she sees how much she has grown up as a person, and how much she has learned while accepting the woman she has become.
“I feel I’ve finally created something that is a nod to some of my favorite records while being able to use my own voice to illustrate my personal transition into womanhood,” Smith said on her official Facebook page.
Through this new album, Smith hopes to send a message to women around the world to promote self-acceptance and love.
“I want a message that promotes any kind of positive body image. That is what I have been super passionate about lately. I don’t necessarily do it through my lyrics, but I want women (and men) to feel good when they listen to my music and I want them to see me as a real person that doesn’t look like Rhianna, but is doing what she’s doing with confidence,” Smith said.
In the future, Smith plans to continue writing songs and make people feel good through her music. She would also like to perform more shows in Minneapolis and sing a duet song with the singer DaAngelo.
